While we are honored to support these organizations, there were many requests we were unable to fund. The pandemic and recent rise in costs have affected both the Phoenixville residents and the nonprofit sector. Inflation raises costs for everyone, including the cost of a nonprofit to operate. And the Great Resignation has impacted nonprofits as well, further squeezing their limited resources. The total dollars requested from all applicants was much higher this year than in recent years. And a depressed stock market negatively impacted our investment portfolio and reduced the amount of funding we had available.
We encourage the community to continue to support our nonprofits. They need all of us to ensure they can continue to provide vital services for our family, friends, and neighbors.
