We are excited to announce that Chris Brickhouse has been selected as PCHF’s 2025 Champion of the Community!
The Champion of Community Awards were developed in 2000 by the Foundation Board of Directors to recognize those who serve others in a way that contributes to the overall health of the greater Phoenixville community. This award honors those who voluntarily give their time, talent, and leadership to the greater Phoenixville community.
This year, we are thrilled to honor Chris Brickhouse, Founder and Director of Better Days Ahead.
Chris is a lifelong self-taught software engineer. He began to take an interest in volunteerism and activism in 2018 in an earnest attempt to help people and improve our corner of the world in SEPA. Chris himself grew up in a lower income working class family and never attended college, so the stigma of poverty stuck with him from an early age.
Finding financial stability as an adult, Chris decided to start doing homeless outreach, making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in Phoenixville and Spring city with the You Are Worth It Foundation. Seven years later, Chris now runs Better Days Ahead, a grassroots homeless outreach organization. BDA volunteers are constantly working to support over 200 clients on the front lines of the battle against poverty in Phoenixville, Pottstown, Norristown and other areas in SEPA.
Chris and other BDA volunteers meet people where they are and offer street outreach, encampment supply drops, technology distribution, rental assistance, eviction prevention and temporary housing like hotels when funding allows. Clients can receive tents, zero degree sleeping bags, tarps and other survival gear as needed. Each week, BDA volunteers work at the Phoenixville office to distribute materials to any clients who need them. Chris believes keeping people alive until housing becomes possible is BDA’s number one priority. PCHF thanks Chris for his tireless commitment to uplifting the Phoenixville community!
Chris will be honored on March 19th at the Phoenixville Regional Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards dinner. Click here to learn more about Better Days Ahead.
